A production of La Fuchsia Kollektiva e.V.
Scenic narration
This project was the first artistic work of La Fuchsia Kollektiva. The myth of Bachué (Colombia) and the legend of the spirit of the fountain (Germany) were told in different artistic languages. The four characters translated the two stories into body language and images, thus highlighting various water-related problems. Mythological and geographical locations between Germany and Colombia were presented, such as the Danube River, the Neckar River, the páramo and the Iguaque Lagoon.
“Water is one of the most important elements in our lives and an indispensable part of our habitat…It is what unites people, but also a huge point of contention between peoples. Early peoples in Assyria, Egypt, Greece and even Latin and South America were already aware of the life-sustaining necessity of the moist element. In myths and legends, the ancients elevated the element of water to a divine level. Even in later times, the water supply of a city was under the protection of the gods and important artists devoted themselves to the design of fountains. With the help of two traditional stories, one from our country of origin and the other from our current environment, we have examined the importance of water as a source of origin, a source for all peoples. We have examined the magical properties that people attribute to the element of water. Its quality as a point of contention between peoples was also a motive for research in the creative process. With the project, we wanted to revive the oral tradition, which is also an important part of every culture, and therefore opted for the scenic narratives”. La Fuchsia Collective (2019)
